Attitude

Attitude – Position in which the dancer stands on one straight leg, with the other leg extended in the air with a bent knee, either in back or in front.  The height and the degree of bend in the knee varies. The Cecchetti method employs a 90 degree bend in the knee, when the height of the working leg is below 90 degrees, the foot should be lower than the knee; at 90 degrees, the foot and knee should be at the same height, and when the leg is above 90 degrees, the foot should be above the knee.  In the Vaganova style, the knee is more open, and the foot should be above the knee.
